WHAT IS BILTONG?

Biltong is a traditional southern African snack that is made from dried meat. The cuts of meat are cured in a vinegar brine then marinated in a special spice mix before being hung to air-dry.

Biltong is an excellent source of protein and a favourite of travellers, healthy eaters, and people who enjoy trying a diverse range of snacks.

HOW ARE CHILLI BITES DIFFERENT FROM BILTONG?

Chilli bites are made in a similar fashion to Biltong, but it is cut thinner and has additional chilli. This gives it a drier texture than Biltong.

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS HALAL?

Yes, all our products are 100% halal. We only use HMC-certified meats to make all our products.

IS BILTONG HEALTHY?

As our biltong is made from beef, it’s a great source of iron and protein. Our production method includes curing and cold air-drying the meat, therefore all the nutrients are retained.

HOW DO I STORE BILTONG/CHILLI BITES?

We recommend that our products be stored in a cool dry place such as a pantry or cupboard, and not in direct sunlight.

HOW LONG DOES YOUR PRODUCTS LAST?

As we do not use any artificial preservatives to produce our products, we would recommend consuming your order within 1 weeks of receiving your order.

MY BILTONG HAS WHITE SPOTS ON IT. IS IT MOULD?

Due to the drying process which is used to make Biltong and Chilli Bites, it is highly unlikely that any white spots are mould. Instead, it is most likely to be salt, which was absorbed into the meat during the marination process, which has now rehydrated due to humidity.

There is no risk to consuming this, however, if you prefer to remove this, then just wipe it with some cider vinegar and it should disappear.

CAN YOU CUSTOMISE MY ORDER?

We would be happy to customise your order to accommodate you, but this may take a little longer than usual, as we would be preparing it just for you! Get in touch with us beforehand and we’ll look to accommodate your request.

I WANT TO GIVE A SELECTION OF BILTONG AND/OR CHILLI BITES AS A GIFT. CAN YOU DO A PRESENTATION BOX?

We would be happy to create such a box. As this would be a custom order, please contact us with your initial request and we will contact you to discuss further.

WHAT ARE YOUR DELIVERY OPTIONS?

We have three delivery options:

Standard UK-Wide Delivery: We aim to dispatch your order within one to five working days, and it should take up to 3 days to reach you.
Collection from our Leicester pick up location: We would be happy for you to pick up your order in person from our Leicester site.
Free local delivery (Leicester): Free local delivery is available for all orders over £11.96 if the delivery location is within a 2.5km radius of our pickup location. See map. For orders less than £11.96, we charge a £1.50 delivery fee.

WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?

In the very unlikely event that there is a problem with your order, please contact us within 24 hours of receiving your delivery by emailing leicesterpremiumbiltong@gmail.com, and we will look to rectify the issue either by providing a replacement or refunding you. Please ensure that the packaging is unopened and in the original condition when returned to us.
